Aiming to help children and young people to understand, question and challenge gender inequality and violence.

Arwa Amba

Arwa Amba is a unique community of fewer than 500 inhabitants in the rural region of Amhara in Ethiopia. To link to the website click here.  A visionary leader called Zumra Nuru who had observed much inequality and injustice throughout his own childhood and sought to bring about positive change founded the movement forty years ago.  This positive example of lived gender equality in Africa could be used to inspire children and young people in the UK and around the world.
