Gender Respect Project 2013-2016

Aiming to help children and young people to understand, question and challenge gender inequality and violence.

Boo Spurgeon (volunteer)

Boo is a freelance PSHE and SRE consultant/trainer. She was a head of PSHE in Sheffield until very recently, having established a specialist department, which was well regarded, locally and nationally. She is a member of the PSHE Association expert teachers group.

She was a lead professional for PSHE and SRE in Sheffield, whilst there was funding from the Secondary Strategy, and responsible for leading the PSHE National Healthy Schools CPD training for teachers and school nurses in Sheffield for those 3 years.

She has wanted to be involved in this project for some time, but time was an issue. Hearing Laura Bates speak about the Everyday Sexism Project was a fantastic stimulus and with her change in job circumstances, prompted her to join up as a volunteer.
